The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) today said that the L21 Transmission Line’s network infrastructure was damaged this morning.

Heavy machinery operating in close proximity to the network is suspected to have caused the damage, a GPL release said.

GPL said that its team will conduct emergency repairs, including replanting the pole and repositioning the guy-wire to support the structure. As a result, service to customers in the following areas will be affected from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

AFFECTED AREAS

1. Lusignan to Noten Zuil

2. Alexander Village and River View

3. La Penitence, East and West Ruimveldt

4. Providence to Craig

5. Leonora to Naamyrck

The L21 Transmission Line connects the Canfield and Onverwagt Power Plants, and the Powership, which is responsible for transferring power to the Demerara-Berbice Interconnected System.
