With the 33rd Olympiad set to commence today in Paris, France, table tennis standout Chelsea Edghill and sprinter Emmanuel Archibald will serve as Guyana’s flagbearers for the event’s opening ceremony at 1:30pm.
Guyana will also be represented at the Olympic Games by swimmers Raekwon Noel and Aleka Persaud, as well as athlete Aliyah Abrams.
Edghill will commence her campaign tomorrow in the preliminary section of the women’s singles at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles against Cameroon’s Sarah Hanffou. On the other hand, Archibald will take the track in the men’s 100m on August 3rd at the Stade de France. Abrams will also take to the track on August 4th in the women’s 400m.
Meanwhile, Noel and Persaud will enter the pool in the men’s 400m and women’s 100m freestyle, respectively, tomorrow and July 30th at the Paris La Défense Arena.
