Delighted at the free consultancy provided by Optique Vision Care

Dear Editor,

I am always delighted to share a positive story. A few days ago, I woke up to find my eyes completely red. Naturally, I was worried because I have glaucoma and needed to see an optometrist or ophthalmologist immediately. I was hesitant to go to GPHC because I would have had to make an appointment, and private hospitals were too expensive.

While walking, I came across Optique Vision Care and decided to try my luck, not expecting to be seen without an appointment. Nervous and anxious about my bloodshot eye, I asked to see a doctor. To my surprise, I was immediately ushered into the doctor’s office, and an eye exam was performed. The results were positive: no damage to the eye and nothing to worry about. I was elated by the news and prepared to pay whatever the cost. When I was told that I didn’t have to pay anything, I was in disbelief. This is Guyana; there’s no free lunch. The doctor insisted that I didn’t have to pay anything. I was shocked and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My American upbringing couldn’t accept the concept of freeness. I asked the doctor again to allow me to make a donation, but she declined.

Editor, there are still some good companies in Guyana, and in my opinion, Optique Vision Care is one of the best.

Sincerely,

Anthony Pantlitz
