The People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) has expressed sadness at the passing of Dr. Simpson Perry Da Silva.
In a statement, it said that Da Silva was a former Minis-ter of Agriculture and a dedicated servant to the people of Guyana.
The statement noted that Da Silva began his journey in public service at the age of 25 when he was appointed as Minister of Agriculture in 1985 by President Forbes Burnham.
“His dedication, vision, and passion for the agricultural sector played a significant role in advancing the industry and enhancing food security in Guyana. Dr. Da Silva’s tireless efforts to build a sustainable agricultural foundation for future generations were matched by his commitment to the development of our nation’s youth”, the statement added.
It said that during his tenure with the APNU+AFC government from 2015 to 2020, Da Silva continued to be a champion for agriculture and an advocate for policies that empowered the nation’s farmers and youth.
