Traditional giant Western Tigers hopes of a top four finish took a hit on Tuesday evening as they were held by Den Amstel 1-1 when the KFC Elite League continued last night at the National Training Centre, Providence.

Gideon Payne handed Den Amstel the initial advantage as he found the back of the net in the 10th minute. However, Western Tigers equalised in the form of Michael Oie, who etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 41st minute.

Due to the outcome, Western Tigers climb onto 25 points and remain in fifth place, two points behind fourth positioned unit Santos, who has a game in hand. On the other side, the West Demerara outfit moves onto 20 points and remains in sixth position. The event continues on Saturday at the same venue with another round of matches.
