‘Keep Ya Five Alive’ Futsal
Bent Street, Back Circle, and Gold is Money secured respective quarterfinal berths following hard-fought wins in the round of 16 when the 10th edition of the ‘Keep Ya Five Alive’ Futsal Championship continued on Wednesday night.
Staged at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue, traditional giant Bent Street overcame North Ruimveldt 2-1. The combination of Adrian Aaron and Marcus scored one goal, respectively. For the loser, Jahaal Greaves etched his name on the score-sheet.
Back Circle overcame Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) of Linden 4-2 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended 1-1. Prior to the aforesaid conclusion, Stephen McLean netted for the East Ruimveldt outfit, while Jamal Bentick scored for the Lindeners.
Gold is Money squeaked past Albouystown Warriors by a 1-0 score. Andrew Murray recorded the only conversion of the contest to separate the two teams.
Meanwhile, the Stabroek Ballers defeated California Square 2-1. Darren Benjamin and Deon Alfred recorded one goal each. For the loser, David George found the back of the net.
Also, Sparta Boss dismantled Unstoppable 3-0. The other teams that have earned their place in the quarterfinal section are Road Warriors, Festival City, and North East La Penitence. The quarterfinal section will occur today at the same venue.
In the opening match, Gold is Money will tackle Road Warriors at 20:00hrs, while Bent Street will face off against Stabroek Ballers at 20:45hrs. In the third contest, Back Circle will resume its budding rivalry with North East La Penitence at 21:30hrs, with Sparta Boss engaging Festival City in the final fixture at 22:15hrs.
Also, the women’s leg of the event will also resume. The Guyana Defence Force A will lock horns with Fruta Conquerors B at 19:00hrs, while the Guyana Police Force will take aim at Santos at 19:30hrs.
