The tapeball format of the Guyana cricket fraternity will come alive today as the best of the best in Guyana will be in action when the Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast bowls off at the Queen’s College Ground, Police Sports Club Ground and the Lusignan Community Centre. The tournament will see 32 teams compete in a straight knockout contest. After today, the 32 will be whittled down to 16, with the winners sealing progression and the losers taking no further part.

Ahead of today’s start, John Ramsingh of the organising body, FL Sport, assured that all systems are in place for a successful start to the tournament.

Additionally, the tournament is expected to attract a lot of attention as several household names in Guyana’s cricket scene are slated to compete this weekend when the tournament kicks off. Players like Leon Johnson, Jonathan Foo, Kevlon Anderson, Christopher Barnwell, Assad Fudadin, and Keemo Paul are all set to turn out for their respective teams. 

After today, tomorrow will see Round of 16 action at Police and Lusignan while the quarter-finals are slated for next Sunday (August 11) at the Enmore Community Centre Ground. The  semifinals and the finals are scheduled for the National Stadium, Providence, on August 25. The champions will receive $1.5 million, while the runners-up will receive $500,000 with the losing semi-finalists grabbing consolation prizes of $250,000 each.

Additionally, individual accolades will see players vie for the titles of Most Runs, Most Wickets, and Player of the Final. Each winner will receive a Smart TV and $75,000 cash compliments of Regal Stationery.

Meanwhile, the MVP will ride away with a motorcycle and $85,000.
