The Public Procurement Commission (PPC) says its commissioner Joel Bhagwandin had disclosed to it his relationship with consulting firm SphereX.
Financial analyst, Bhagwandin disclosed on July 16th via a letter to this newspaper that he had terminated a contract with ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (EMGL) following an exchange of views. Given his role as a commissioner and the expansive nature of ExxonMobil’s business here questions had arisen about a possible conflict of interest.
The Sunday Stabroek had questioned the PPC on this matter and it received the following response: “Commissioner Bhagwandin disclosed his relationship with SphereX to the Commission. It is important to note that no matters involving EMGL have come before the Commission. In other instances, Commissioner Bhagwandin has transparently disclosed any potential conflicts of interest, including clients who were complainants, and has appropriately recused himself from those matters.”
This response had also come earlier from Bhagwandin.
