The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) ‘Kool Kidz Summer Festival’ commenced yesterday, with approximately 70 aspiring players across eight teams participating at the National Training Centre, Providence.
This was disclosed by a release from the federation. According to the correspondence, the first phase of the programme will comprise imparting the essentials of the discipline, with the second stage inculcating a miniature U-11 tournament.
The teams that participated were Fruta Conquerors, Ralph Green East Bank, Berbice, Keystart, Melanie, Beacon, Pouderoyen, and Paradise Invaders. The programme will conclude on August 31st.
GFF President Wayne Forde said, “A very good first day to kick start this year’s Kool Kidz Summer Festival. A solid turnout of children to the sessions this morning, which is precisely what we anticipated,”
He further said, “We are encouraging our regional associations to organize similar programs within their respective jurisdictions. It is important that we take full advantage of the improving weather conditions and the remaining weeks of the school break by creating opportunities for the youngsters to improve their skill level and enjoy football.”
