Titans, Premier Insurance, Eccles All-Stars, among winners

The Kares ‘One Guyana’ T10 Tapeball Blast commenced yesterday at several venues in Demerara with some exciting matches and performances.

The much touted teams lived up to expectations, with Titans All-Stars, Premier Insurance, Eccles All-Stars, and CJIA announcing themselves as serious contenders for the top prize.

Notable performances from Thaddeus Lovell, Jonte Thomas, Shemroy Barrington, and Christopher Barnwell highlighted the opening round of matches.

At Eve Leary, Titans defeated Stripling Warriors by 60 runs. Titans All-Stars batted first and made 157-6. Barrington struck 63 runs while Akshaya Persaud made 45. Anthony Singh claimed 3-31. Stripling Warriors replied with 97-7. Pernell London made 38 and Barnwell captured 4-9.

At Queen’s College, Premier Insurance trounced the Ministry of Housing and Water by 110 runs. Premier Insurance piled up 177-3, batting first. Lovell hammered 98, Carlos Larose made 26 and Seon Glasgow 20. Ministry of Housing and Water were limited to 67-8 in reply. Larose and Yeudistir Persaud took two wickets each.

Also, CJIA thumped Soesdyke by 78 runs. Batting first, CJIA managed 152-5. Shakiel Wong scored 75 and Ezra Boodram 23. Ridge Rajaram had 2-20. Soesdyke XI were restricted to 74-5, in reply. Megial Parks made 36 as Troy Domingo and Leon Thomas took two wickets each.

Meanwhile, Eccles All-Stars dismantled Team Eastsyde by 76 runs. Eccles All-Stars scored 147-5, batting first. Jonte Thomas struck 88 and Sagar Hathiramani 29. Sameer Housain picked up 3-21 and Shivraj Parmanand 2-13. Team Eastsyde scored 71-6 in reply. Jason Andrews made 25; Troy Gonsalves took 2-6.

In other results, Brooklyn Youth Strikers bested Cotton Tree Die Hard by four wickets. Cotton Tree Die Hard were bowled out for 51 in 8.1 overs, with Ryan Latif and Orrin Gibson taking three wickets each. Brooklyn Youth Strikers responded with 52-6 in 7 overs. Gibson and Seon Hetmyer made 21 runs each.

Tarmac Titans thumped Renegades by 101 runs. Tarmac Titans posted 151-7 after taking the first strike. Rawle Merrell made 32, Jayadev Mana 24 and Daniel Ross 22. Shaz Grosvenor had 3-30. In reply, Renegades ended on 50-8. Sherwin Burnette claimed 3-30 and Merrell had 2-10.

At the Lusignan ground, the Diamond Gunners thrashed the Tourism Guyana Titans by 81 runs. Batting first, the Diamond Gunners managed 146-1. Armin Griffith scored 56 and Andrew Lim 54. Tourism Guyana Times replied with 65-4.

The Guards defeated the Mahaica Super Strikers by 22 runs. The Guards took the first strike and made 92-9. Azad Mohamed made 25 and Kevon Boodie 18. Devendra Ruplall took 2-14. Mahaica Super Strikers scored 70-9 in reply, with Chavez Ageday scoring 24. Boodie claimed 3-7 and Keston Harcourt 3-12.

Movements Family Mahdi defeated EX Express by six wickets. EC Express batted first and scored 99-6. Rudolph Singh made 30 as Suresh Dhanai claimed 3-24 and Deonarine Seegobin 2-9. Movements Family Mahdia responded with 100-4 in 9 overs. Andrew Gibson scored 34 and Ricardo Adams 18.

The Green Scorpions overcame Avinash All Stars by eight wickets. Avinash All-Stars took the first strike and made 86 all out in 8.3 overs. Ameer Mohamed got 27 as Tryon Narine, Elijah Ramdat, and Tulsiram Premnauth had two wickets each. Green Scorpions replied with 90-2 in 8.2 overs. Premnauth struck 40 and Manieram Singh 21.

Bartica Bulls beat The United Cow by 24 runs. Bartica Bulls took first knock and posted 137-4. Killon Tracy stroked 72 and Keanu Harry 25. The United Cow responded with 113-4. Shaquille Moseley scored 40 as Tracy picked up 3-28.
