Next week’s Fiesta Latina promises cultural explosion

Come next Saturday Guyanese can expect to experience a real Latin cultural experience at ‘Fiesta Latina’ at the Promenade Gardens where organisers promise the best of Latin food, drinks and dance.

According to Global Tours and Travel Company, which is collaborating with Latin American embassies here, this cultural explosion will be divided into three parts: the bandstand, the chill zone and the kids’ area.

According to a press release from the organisers the ‘swinging bandstand’ will be the festival’s lyrical larder, offering a full programme of live music headlined by María Rodríguez of Cuba.

“Prepare for a multitude of authentic music experiences at Fiesta Latina. The infectious Latino rhythm with non-stop merengue, reggaeton, bachata, and salsa music. will keep you moving at the Promenade Gardens! Enjoy performances by exceptional live performers and groups and captivating dance performers from Brazil, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and beyond, designed to fill your festival journey with the vibrant spirit of Latin music and dance whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a beginner. There will also be a special Latin Karaoke session,” the release said.

As for the chill zone the organisers said this will be the adults’ entertainment area and will see dominoes playing and selling of the top cigar brands in the world. Representatives will be on hand to deliver their knowledge on premium cigars. Children can expect rides, bounce houses, face painting, a 360-camera selfie station, treats and snacks, games and more.

“Patrons should get ready to embark on a cultural journey like no other as this festival promises to be a captivating celebration of diverse cultures from around Latin America. Fiesta Latina is set to be the largest multicultural summer event in Guyana,” the organisers promised.

They pledged that the event will foster a spirit of unity, celebrating the uniqueness of the cultures of Latin America and showing that no culture is truly foreign. Participants are expected from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Venezuela.

“The event will showcase the rich tapestry of Latin American cultures through an array of artistic expressions, including music, dance, traditional costumes and mouth-watering cuisine. As a cultural melting pot, Fiesta Latina will offer an immersive experience that captures the essence of global diversity and aims to unite and lift global culture in Guyana,” the release said.

Food will be provided by restaurants and renowned chefs from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, the Dominican Republic Mexico and Venezuela. From rice dishes to traditional meals, the release said the food tents will offer succulent Latin cuisine that will truly awaken patrons’ taste buds.

It added that patrons can taste the finest beers, wines and spirits of Latin America, whether it is Mexican Tequila, Brazilian Caipirinha, or a Cuban Mojito. It was noted that Latin American alcoholic beverages have become internationally renowned for their quality and taste. Expert mixologists will be on hand to put together the best Tequila, Cola de Mono, Caipirinha, Pisco Sour, Batida, Piña Colada, Mojito, Cuba Libre, Coco Loco, Michelada, Daiquiri, Margarita, Cuban Ginger and Sangria for patrons, the release said.
