Former national athlete Esan Hooper emerged victorious in the Big Star Youth & Sports Club Emancipation 10k road race yesterday, which was staged from Number 35 Village to Ulverston Village Corentyne, East Berbice. Hooper stopped the clock at 43:02, with Anton Wright and Assany McPhoy finishing in second and third place, respectively. Shaquail Smith rounded out the top four. Also, Lasandra Davis triumphed in the women’s category of the race. Meanwhile, Arvin Valenzuela captured the 5k title, while Javier Henry, Joseph Rahaman, and Amari Gibbs completed the race in that order.
In the women’s 5k race, Princess Wong prevailed ahead of Leander Bennette, Princes Butcher, and Torremica Dick, who finished in second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
