Police from Regional Division #6 found 559 grams of suspected cannabis at an abandoned lot on Sunday during a ‘Cordon and Search’ operation at New Street, Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice.
The team of ranks, led by an Inspector, went to the area, where a search was conducted at a premises occupied at the time by three individuals—two men, aged 28 and 27, and a 24-year-old female.
During the search, nothing illegal was found. However, a further search by one of the ranks led to the discovery of two bulky transparent parcels in an abandoned lot near the said premises. The parcels, upon examination, contained a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspected cannabis, when weighed, amounted to a total of 559 grams. The three individuals were arrested and are in custody as investigations continue.
