Work has begun on providing electricity for the first time to the residents of New Forest, through the Guyana Power and Light, according to a release from the Ministry of Finance.
Presently, light poles are being placed at the location.
This development follows previous community engagements with the residents, during which the lack of electricity was raised.
This action comes in keeping with President Irfaan Ali’s directive that all communities that are in close proximity to the national grid and have a sufficient population will be provided with electricity.
