Police in Regional Division #7 conducted a ‘Cordon and Search’ exercise on Monday at the Bartica Market/Arcade, during which two persons were arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana.

A statement from the police said that ranks visited and searched the home of Edwin Myles, aka ‘Junior’, a 27-year-old businessman on Fifth Avenue, Bartica, Essequibo River, during which they found a transparent plastic bag with a whitish rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine on top of a wardrobe in the bedroom.

Myles admitted ownership of the substance. The ranks also found $30,760 (Guyana currency, suspected to be proceeds from narcotics sales), lighters, and zip-lock bags. Myles, along with the narcotics and mentioned items, were taken to Bartica Police Station. The suspected cocaine, when weighed, amounted to 24 grams. Myles was placed in custody pending further investigation.

The ranks also searched the stall of Neon Cole, a 27-year-old from 5th Street Bartica, where they found leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis hidden in Cole’s crotch. He was arrested and taken to Bartica Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed and amounted to nine grams.

Cole was placed into custody pending further investigation.
