There is yet to be any official update by the Government of Guyana on efforts to lift the long-running ban on catfish exports to the US.
Stabroek News had previously reported that sources within the Fisheries Department stressed that their efforts are continuing, however, they had added that Guyana has made several submissions to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service which resulted in it requesting more information when each of the submissions was made.
Chief Fisheries Officer, Denzil Roberts, when contacted yesterday cited this article and directed this newspaper to the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture.
