Ricardo Narine reclaims National Junior Chess Crown

Ricardo Narine reclaimed the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) National Junior Championship, besting the challenge of a talented field in the nine-round event at the David Rose Special School.

This was disclosed by a release from the GCF. According to the correspondence, Narine, 19, who won the 2022 edition, secured 8.5 points following a record of eight wins and a draw to capture the crown.

Securing second place was 14-year-old Kyle Couchman, who ended on eight points with seven wins and two draws, while Sachin Pitamber rounded out the top three with six points. Matthew Singh and Alexander Zhang finished in fourth and fifth place on 5.5 and five points, respectively.

The event was administered and supervised by FIDE Arbiter John Lee and assistant Jessica Callender.
