Royals, Flames to contest Linden U-23 basketball final

Victory Valley Royals will oppose Block 22 Flames in the final of the Kevin Joseph/Team 13 U-23 Basketball Championship tomorrow evening at the Amelia’s Ward Hard Court, Linden, following semifinal wins.
It will be a rematch of the group round, which was won by the Royals following a convincing 57-34 score. Royals secured their berth in the championship fixture following a 74-50 victory over hosts, the Amelia’s Ward Jets.
Kobe Tappin top scored in the rout with 27 points, while Stephen George and Rashad Hinds added 22 and 13 points, respectively. For the loser, Shawntese Campbell tallied a game-high 30 points.
On the other hand, Flames scorched Retrieve Raiders 68-58. Lerone Joseph and Jonathan Clarke top scored in the win with 21 and 20 points apiece, while Jumane Reynolds added nine points. For the loser, Shemar Savoury amassed 29 points, with Damion Vincent chipping in with 10 points.
