Matthew Beharry, a 33-year-old fisherman of New Amsterdam, Berbice, has been charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking (134.5 grams of Cannabis).
Beharry was nabbed on Tuesday at Supenaam waterfront, Essequibo Coast.
On Thursday, the case was heard at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tamieka Clarke, where the charge was read to the defendant. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor objected to bail and the defendant was remanded to prison.
