Two shotguns, ganja found during police operation at Ebini

Two 12-gauge shotguns without serial numbers, along with a quantity of marijuana, were found by Police during an intelligence-led operation between 11 am and 6 pm on Thursday at Ebini, Upper Berbice River.

During the Police operation in the Berbice River, the ranks observed two men in two boats acting suspiciously.

On seeing the Police, the men got out of the boats and escaped in a yard behind a wooden two-storey structure situated on the eastern bank of the Berbice River, in some thick vegetation.

A search was conducted in and around the house by the Police, where a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, along with two 12-gauge shotguns, were found without serial numbers.

The ranks took possession of the suspected narcotics and firearms along with a 40 HP Yamaha Outboard Engine, a 2 HP Yamaha Outboard Engine and one Samsung cellphone.

The items were taken to the Mackenzie Police Station, where they were marked, sealed, placed in evidence bags and lodged. No arrest was made. Further investigations are in progress.
