The Women’s Association of the Guyana Police Force convened a meeting on Wednesday at the Police Officers’ Mess Annexe, Eve Leary, Georgetown on gender equality and more females in leadership positions.

A release yesterday from Eve Leary said that the meeting followed a directive from Police Commissioner Clifton Hicken and his Executive Leadership Team.

The release said that the initiative aims to enhance gender equality and elevate women’s leadership within the force through comprehensive strategies including policy development, targeted recruitment and retention and specialised training.

The release said that the meeting provided a supportive and empowering platform for female police officers to discuss and promote gender equality and professional growth within the organisation.

There was a  robust dialogue on obstacles faced by women in the force and a discussion on the  celebration of their accomplishments.

Strategies to foster a more equitable and inclusive environment were also discussed.
