Of the 32 teams that initially started the Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball competition, only eight remain and this will be further whittled down to four semi-finalists by the end of tomorrow when the quarter-finals are played at the Enmore Community Centre Ground.
Tournament coordinator John Ramsingh told the media yesterday that all systems are set for a punctual start from 9 am tomorrow.
A number of active national players and former West Indies players will be in action as their respective teams seek spots in the finals on August 24 at the National Stadium, Providence.
Ramsingh, during the media brief, explained that each of the four winners from the quarter-finals will pocket $100,000 while each loser will get $30,000, for a total purse of $520,000, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
He further revealed that, at minimum, each of the eight teams will regain its entrance fee of $25,000, while the winner receives an early bonus.
Meanwhile, each of the losing semi-finalists on August 24 will pocket $250,000, compliments of Premier Insurance.
For the two teams that secure spots in the final, second-place is guaranteed $500,000 from SuperBet Guyana while the winner pockets $1.5m from Star Rentals.
Incentives for individual awards such as Most Runs, Most Wickets, and Player of the Final will see players receiving a Smart TV plus a $75,000 cash prize compliments of Regal Stationery and Computer Centre.
Additionally, Assuria Insurance will present a motorbike, and $85,000 will go to the Most Valuable Player.
Furthermore, $100,000 will be split equally between the Kawasaki Super Striker of the tournament (player with the highest strike rate—minimum of 12 balls) and the Most Economical bowler (lowest economy rate—minimum of 24 balls).
The quarter-finals for tomorrow are Team Corruption vs. Montra Jaguars at 9:30 am, Tarmac Titans vs. Mahdia at 11:30 am, Titans All-Stars vs. The Guards at 1:30 am, and Brooklyn Youth Strikers vs. Diamond Gunners at 3:30 am.
