The Moruca district in Region One is currently grappling with a surge in flu-like illnesses and dengue cases, according to Toshao Raul Hendricks.
Speaking with the Sunday Stabroek yesterday, Hendricks confirmed that alongside an unascertained flu-like sickness spreading through the area, there has been a noticeable increase in dengue cases. He noted that individuals who visited the district hospital reported being diagnosed with a different variant of the dengue virus, further complicating the situation.
When asked about the symptoms being experienced, Hendricks shared that both his wife and son had contracted the flu. They exhibited symptoms such as skin rashes and skin darkening, which have also been reported by others in the community.
