Olympic Kremlin of the Slingerz Racing Stables captured the feature event in the Guyana Cup Horse Racing Championship yesterday at the Rising Sun Turf Club in West Coast Berbice.
Olympic Kremlin, who arrived on local shores on Wednesday last, defeated a strong field of 10, which included defending champion Easy Time, who was relegated to third, and second-place finisher Nova Sol. Oy Vey clinched the fourth spot.
Slingerz Racing Stables’ Olympic Kremlin steals Guyana Cup Javed Ali and his team at Slingerz Racing Stables were triumphant at the 16th running of the Guyana Cup when Olympic Kremlin pulled off an upset win in the 1600 meters feature event at the packed Rising Sun Turf Club.
In the Guyana Derby, Forza Baby secured the top spot, while Sex Appeal, Sea Bird, and Royal Ink ended in second, third, and fourth place, respectively.
Meanwhile, Little Africa won the L Class Maidens event, with Lords Gift, Money Jet, and Three D Movie rounding out the top four in that order.
In the L Class event, Shake the Bank copped the top spot, while Get Them Bobby, Quiet Warrior, and She’s a Monica ended up in second, third, and fourth place, respectively.
Top Gun then stormed to victory in the K Class race, as Bin Landen, Money Time, and Swinging Jet secured the second, third, and fourth places, respectively.
In J Class event, Amazing Grace bested Rachel, Hayley, and Trump to emerge victorious, with the aforesaid trio finishing in that order.
On the other hand, Emotional Damage won the H Class race, defeating Blinding Light, Stroke of Luck, and Theory of Colours, who finished in second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
Meanwhile, Soca Harmony won the F Class section, defeating Converter, Red Ruby, and American Traveller, who finished in second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
In the Juvenile Dash event, Jet Mode soared to victory, with Secret Traveller, Miracle Star, and Miss Simron securing second, third, and fourth place, respectively.
Stormy Entry won the Sprint Classic, relegating Creemore, Morning Colours, and Jessica’s Pride to the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
The horse racing season will continue on September 22nd at the same venue with the staging of the President’s Cup.
