Applications invited for President of CCJ

The Regional Judicial and Legal Services Commission (RJLSC) is inviting applications for the post of President of the Carib-bean Court of Justice (CCJ).

In an advertisement in yesterday’s Stabroek News, RJLSC said that guidelines for the position and application forms are available at https://ccj.org/vacancies/ccj-vacancies/

Applications have to be submitted no later than Monday, 16th September at 4 pm Atlantic Standard Time. Only shortlisted occupants will be contacted.

A release from the CCJ on August 5th said that Justice Winston Anderson has been appointed to act as President of the CCJ by the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell, the current Chairman of the Confer-ence of Heads of Government of CARICOM. 

The CCJ said that Justice Anderson will serve as acting President from 02 August- 16 September 2024, while the Court President, Justice Adrian Saunders is on leave.

The release pointed out that under Article VIII paragraph 1 of the Agreement Establishing the CCJ, the functions of the President of the Court “shall be performed by the Judge of the Court who is most senior according to the date of this appointment and he shall be appointed by letter under the hand of the Chairman for the time being of the Conference”, until the President has resumed those functions. Justice Anderson having been appointed a Judge in June 2010, is presently the most senior Judge of the Court.
