As a social development specialist, I am writing to express my concerns about the proposed 500-single-head household homestead project by the Government of Guyana. Each time I review the details of this initiative, I am left with numerous questions. The most significant of these is the apparent lack of public consultation results that should guide the project’s design. How actively have these women, who are directly impacted, been involved in shaping the initiative? What are their agricultural skillset and interest in agriculture? It seems that we never learn.
