CWI Rising Stars U-17 Cricket
Guyana will jump into action today when they get their Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars U-17 Men’s 50-over campaign off against hosts Trinidad and Tobago at the Inshan Ali Park, Preysal.
Prior to their departure on Sunday, the team was encamped for the period of two weeks. Head coach Ameer Rahaman, who spoke to media operatives, said, “The camp was good; we were able to do fitness assessments, groundwork, and two-day matches where we implemented the points system and bonus points system to get the boys in the frame of mind of what is required of them in the tournament.”
Meanwhile, the squad is bolstered by the U-19 quartet of Jonathan Van Lange, Gulcharan Chulai, Riyad Latiff, and Rampersaud Ramnauth. Van Lange will captain the team and will be banking on his previous experience to lead the side to an excellent campaign with hopes of securing the regional title.
Guyana’s complete squad comprises: Van Lange (Captain), Ramnauth, Parmeshwar Ram, Emmanuel Lewis, Afraz Ali Budhoo (Vice-Captain), Vickash Wilkinson (Wicketkeeper), Riyad Latif, Chulai, Devon Wharton, Darwin Joseph, Navendra Sankar, Romario Ramdeholl, Adrian Hetmyer, and Romesh Bharrat. On the management side, Neil Rudder will serve in the capacity of manager.
