Shuttle Strikers emerged victorious in the ‘One Guyana’ President’s Cup Badminton Championship, which concluded on Saturday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.

The team tournament featured four randomly selected squads that competed in the Boy’s Singles, Girl’s Singles, Boy’s Doubles, Girl’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles sections, respectively.

At the end of the event, Shuttle Strikers, which was captained by Akili Haynes and featured Frank Waddell, Gabriel Felix, Nikolas Pollard, Mishka Beharry, and Minikshi Jaikissoon, defeated Team Terminetters 3-0 in the final.

Terminetters comprises: Jaurel Hendricks (captain), Avinash Ramnarine, Ruel Rambiriche, Vishal Gopaul, Anjaynesa Godette, and Leshaunte Berkley.

In the earlier semifinal segment, Shuttle Strikers thrashed Black Panthers 4-1, while Terminetters blanked Court Conquerors 3-0.

Court Conquerors consisted of Priyanna Ramdhani (captain), Joel Rambiriche, Jonathan Debidin, Yonneil Benjamin, Neveah Eastman, and Genevieve Bookram, while Black Panthers contained Nkosi Beaton (captain), Jonathan Robinson, Egan Bulkan, Ethan Bulkan, Gabrielle Felix, and Malia Haley.

The event was administered by the Guyana Badminton Association and was used as part of the entity’s preparation for the impending Carebaco Regional Tournament, which is pencilled for August 22nd-25th in Aruba.
