West Ruimveldt heavyweight Western Tigers mangle Buxton United 8-1 when the KFC Elite League continued last evening at the National Training Centre in Providence.

It was the 16th defeat for the East Coast Demerara unit, as Michael Oie and Randolph Wagner led the rout with a helmet and hat-trick, respectively. Wagner opened the scoring in the 15th minute, before Michael Oie netted two minutes later to double their advantage.

Buxton United managed to reduce the deficit in the 19th minute via a Lennox Odean strike. However, Oie restored his team’s initial two-goal advantage as he found the back of the net once more in the 28th minute. Samuel Garnett then etched his name on the score-sheet in the 38th minute to make it 4-1.

The score remained unchanged heading into the halftime interval. Upon the resumption, Wagner took over the scoring burden as he recorded his brace in the 62nd minute. He would then seal his hat-trick seven minutes later to further extend the lead at 6-1.

Not to be outdone, Oie completed his hat-trick via a 79th minute conversion. He would then seal the score-line two minutes later to complete his individual tally.

Due to the victory, the Western Tigers climb 28 points into fourth place ahead of Santos due to their superior goal differential. On the other hand, Buxton United remain in the cellar on a point. The event continues on Saturday with another round of matches.
