Despite a standout all-round performance from Romario Ramdeholl, Guyana played to a draw against hosts Trinidad and Tobago at the Inshan Ali Park in Preysal in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars U-17 Men’s 2-Day Championship.

The Trinidadians had batted first, posting 202 all out with Ramdeholl snapping up 6/38. In response, the Guyanese would manage 183 all out, with Afraz Budhoo making 63 while Ramdeholl returned with the bat to make 32.

The home side, batting for a second time, limped to 151/9, declared with Jayden Kent making 41. However, Ramdeholl tool another 6-fer, this time capturing 6/62.

Despite Ramdeholl’s almost perfect bowling performance, Guyana had limited time to chase 171 for victory, getting to 31/2 in 11 overs. Guyana will next face the Leeward Islands at the National Cricket Centre in Couva. Meanwhile, Barbados dismantled Jamaica by an innings and 48 runs at the National Cricket Centre. Barbados, who registered a sizable lead of 133 after declaring on 236/7 following Jamaica’s first innings total of 103, skittled the Jamaicans once more for 85 in 32.4 overs to secure the win.

Jakeem Pollard recorded figures of 3-6, while Zachary Carter and R’Jai Gittens tallied 2-9 and 2-13, respectively.

Over at Gilbert Park, the Windward Islands won by 71 runs. Set a target of 171 after the Windward Islands declared on 101/7 in their second innings, the Leeward Islands, who were demolished in the first innings for 64, suffered a similar fate as they were bundled out for 100 in 50.2 overs. Cody Fontenelle snared 5-33, as J’Quan Athanaze ended on unbeaten on 33.
