Govt reintroduces electricity subsidy for pensioners

The Government of Guyana has announced the reintroduction of the annual electricity subsidy for pensioners. The initiative is a part of the 2024 budget proposed by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.

According to the notice published in this newspaper, the annual subsidy of $30,000, is aimed at enhancing the disposable income of pensioners. The subsidy will be applicable to electricity accounts registered in the name of eligible pensioners and is set to begin this month.
