Thirty-four-year-old Marvin Blackman appear-ed at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Annette Singh where he was charged with discharging a loaded firearm with intent.
Blackman pleaded not guilty to the offence.
It was alleged that on August 10 at Meadow Bank, Georgetown, he discharged a loaded firearm at Kevin Allicock with intent to maim, disfigure, or cause actual bodily harm.
Regarding the morning in question, Blackman and Allicock ended up in an altercation after Allicock hit Blackman’s brother-in-law, Nazam Beni, who had been recently released from hospital and was suffering from brain damages. Also, the brother-in-law is no longer mobile.
Blackman’s attorney, George Thomas, told the court that his client was no stranger to the law, however he has been appearing for every court date. He also assured the magistrate that his client would abide by any condition the Magistrate saw fit to impose.
The prosecutor did not object the bail since no firearm was recovered, but requested that a report and conditions be applied to any bail granted.
Given the prosecutor’s position, the magistrate granted bill in the sum of $50,000 with the condition that Blackman reports to the Ruimveldt police station until the end of the matter.
The matter was adjourned to September 6 for disclosure.
