Teenage guard jailed for larceny, escaping from custody

A 19-year-old security guard was on Wednesday sentenced to six years in prison for escaping from lawful custody and break and enter and larceny.

According to a release from the police, Jamal Halley appeared at the Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman, where he was formally charged with the two offences. Both charges were read to him, and he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years.

Halley committed the crime of break and enter and larceny on Onessa Gibson’s home at First Street Kaneville, East Bank Demerara on August 13th, the release said.No details were given on his escape from lawful custody crime.
