Guyana commenced their Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Boy’s U-14 Challenge Series in the worst possible manner, going down to Antigua and Barbuda 1-2 yesterday in the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Guyana’s starting XI, comprised of Ezekiel Jackman, Isaac Taylor, Ezekiel Douglas, Simon Solomon, Jadan Noble, Kevin Buntin, Jaden Tasher, Nyron Barrow, Pharez Noble, Mark Glasgow, and Damani Hardy, conceded two goals in the first half.

Guyana’s consolation goal came off the boot of Glasgow.

Meanwhile, GFF President Wayne Forde, via a press release, said, “A spirited effort from the boys; not the start they wanted, but I am confident they will rebound strongly in the upcoming matches.”

He further said, “This is their first exposure internationally, and they have so much to learn from the entire experience.

While this result is disappointing, we are proud of our boys for showing resilience and fighting until the final whistle. These early challenges are part of the journey, and we are confident they will bounce back stronger in their upcoming matches.”

Guyana will resume their campaign against Barbados at 11:00am before battling St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the 21st at 2:00pm.

The Golden Jaguars will tackle the Cayman Islands in their final group fixture on the 23rd at 11:00am.

The event will feature an initial group stage section, with the respective winners advancing to the elimination round.
