A second Guyanese was recently crowned Miss Caribbean Culture Queen in Nevis and was given a royal welcome on her return to Guyana. Shequana Holder, who edged out 10 other competitors from around the Caribbean this year, joined Shemina Peroune as the second Guyanese to win the crown in consecutive years.

She was recently treated to a welcoming party that included drummers, dancers and a spoken word artiste all of whom combined their talents along with others to give the new queen a fitting welcome.

The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce and the Guyana Tourism Authority also presented the new queen with a trip for two to experience the majestic Kaieteur Falls as well as a goodie bag filled with locally produced items.

“The outpouring of love and pride from everyone present, moved our Queen to tears. This reminded her and all of us just how deeply she is cherished by her people and exemplified the power of unity and unwavering support of the Guyanese community,” the Miss Guyana Culture said on its Facebook page.
