The Ministry of Education yesterday said that archery will be introduced in nearly every secondary school on the Essequibo Coast as part of its Priority Programme.
In a press release the ministry said that over the weekend nine individuals were trained and certified in archery. As a result of this training, seven secondary schools on the Essequibo Coast will each receive an archery coach, with one coach being assigned to a school in Georgetown and another to a school in Region 4. The training was conducted by a team from ProArchers Guyana.
The ministry’s Priority Programme aims to expose each student to a technical and vocational education training subject, modern languages, a musical instrument, a sport, and a strong sense of volunteerism before they graduate from secondary school, the release added.
