Caribbean Schoolboys Boxing Championship
Emerging star Shakquain James, as well as Klass siblings Kevin, Kenisha, and Kenroy, secured victories for Guyana in the 7th edition of the Winfield Braithwaite Caribbean Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championship at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
James (Guyana) defeated Leon Loudat (ANT) in the Youth 63.5Kg division. On the other hand, Kenroy (Guyana) defeated Drayson Roberts (Grenada) via referee stoppage in the Schoolboys 11-12 (44Kg final), while Kenisha defeated Grace Harry (T&T) via referee stoppage in the Schoolgirls 13-14 (44Kg final).
Similarly, Kevin (Guyana) defeated Nervon Medrick (St. Lucia) via referee stoppage in the Schoolboys 11-12 (26Kg) division. Up to press time, several other bouts were underway.
Meanwhile, Angelina Rogers and Melia Barker lost in their respective divisional finals. Barker lost to Tehelya Arabi Nikrui (Suriname) via referee stoppage in the Schoolgirls 11-12 (44Kg final), while Rogers (Guyana) went down to Anjali Toolsie (Suriname) via decision in the Youth Women’s (52kg final).
