Anna Regina and Queen’s College students tie with 23 Grade Ones at CESEC

Anna Regina Multilateral Rudranath Sankar and Queen’s College’s Dave Chowtie have tied with 23 Grade Ones each in this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination, according to preliminary results released by the Ministry of Education this morning.

However, while Sankar wrote 24 subjects with one Grade Two Chowtie wrote 29 subjects and got six Garde Twos.

According to the preliminary results released some 11,612 wrote the CESEC examination, a reduction from 12, 108 in 2023. The overall pass rate of Grades 1s to 3 is 67.23% down from 67.34 % last year. There is improved performances in 12 subjects while seven subjects remains constant. But there has been a decline in Grade 1 to 3 in English A as last year saw 72% passing and this year it is 69%. English B improved from  64% to 70% and Mathematics declined from 34% to 31% this year.

For CAPE some 92.7 students gained Grade Ones to Fives.
