The Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) has selected a 20-member roster to compete at the Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation (CAREBACO) Junior Championship, which is slated to be hosted in Oranjestad, Aruba, from August 22nd-25th.
This was disclosed by a release from the GBA. According to the release, the team will compete in the U-11-U-19 age groups in the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories, respectively.
The team comprises: (Under-11): Joel Rambiriche, Liam Brummell, Anjaneysa Godette, Riyo Alexander; (Under-13): Ethan Bulkan; (Under-15): Ruel Rambiriche, Egan Bulkan, Sergio Alexander, Gabrielle Felix; (Under-17): Xavio Alexander, Gabriel Felix, Nikolas Pollard, Mishka Beharry, Malia Haley; (Under-19): Frank Waddell, Jonathan Debidin, Jonathan Robinson, Vishal Gopaul, Yonneil Benjamin, and Leshaunte Berkley.
The GBA stated, “Our badminton team comprises talented junior and senior athletes who have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication to the sport. With rigorous training and countless hours of practice, we have achieved significant milestones in regional and international competitions, including the CAREBACO (Junior and Senior Tournaments), South American Games, Central and Caribbean Games (CAC), Pan American Games, and the Commonwealth Games. Now, we are eager to showcase our talent once again at the international level.”
The GBA further said, “Participating in such a prestigious event not only enhances our skills but also promotes camaraderie and sportsmanship among players from different backgrounds.”
