Briton John secures Stage 3 victory at Tour Cycliste de Guiana

Guyana’s ace cyclist Briton John secured a stage win on Sunday in French Guiana at the Tour Cycliste de Guiana.

John, known for his dominance of the local cycling scene here in Guyana, transferred that form to take Stage Three, soloing to victory after finishing in the middle of the peloton in the first two stages.

In a media release, the Guyana Cycling Federation expressed their pride in the team’s performance, noting, “The team continues to demonstrate resilience and competitive spirit as they progress through this prestigious nine-stage race.”

John, who competed in consecutive stages on Sunday, delivered a solid performance, finishing 33rd in Stage Two, effectively maintaining his position in the race, which he established in Stage One on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Cortis Dey completed the stage in 56th place, while the remaining Team Guyana cyclists (four in total) finished in the latter part of the stage, continuing their efforts in the challenging competition.

Commenting on John’s stage 3 win, the GCF said, “This outstanding performance highlights his skill and strategy, marking a significant achievement for Team Guyana in this year’s Tour.”

“The results for the other Team Guyana riders in Stage 3 were still pending confirmation at the time of this release. The victory in Stage 3 by Briton John is a proud moment for Guyana, reflecting the hard work and dedication of the entire team. The Guyana Cycling Federation is confident that this success will motivate the team to continue performing strongly in the upcoming stages,” the release concluded.

The Tour Cycliste de Guiana continues throughout this week.
