Caribbean Senior Squash Championships
– Arjoon eliminated in Men’s Open semifinal
Guyana’s only hope of an individual title following the defeat of Alex Arjoon in the semifinal round will rest on the shoulders of Mary Fung-A-Fat, who prevailed in the Women’s Open final four section of the Caribbean Senior Squash Championships at the Georgetown Club facility yesterday.
Fung-A-Fat, who defeated Eboni Atherley (Barbados) 11-5, 11-6, and 11-4 in the quarterfinal section, earned her place in the final at the expense of compatriot Ashley Khalil, as she triumphed 11-6, 11-7, and 11-6.
Meanwhile, Guyana’s lone hope in the Men’s Open, Arjoon, was eliminated in the semifinal round after going down to defending champion Khamal Cumberbatch (Barbados) 11-8, 11-8, 11-6. Arjoon, in his earlier quarterfinal fixture, defeated Shawn Simpson (Barbados) 11-8, 11-8, 11-8. The veteran category also commences on Wednesday.
