The Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) recently presented 27 bursary awards to union members’ children who wrote the National Grade Six Examinations earlier this year.
A release from the union said the ceremony was held at its head office in Kingston, Georgetown, last Friday and saw the children, whose parents are part of the GAWU’s various bargaining units, receiving their awards.
According to the release, GAWU President Seepaul Narine congratulated the parents and their extended families for their contributions, recognising that they played a role in their children’s achievements. He stated that the union, like their families, was proud of the students’ successes, and he noted that GAWU places immense value on education.
