Nicolette Fernandes advanced to the final in the women’s 40+ category of the World Squash Federation Masters, dispatching South African Karen Blom 3-0 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, yesterday at the Frans Otten Stadion.
Fernandes, who won gold in the women’s 35+ section in the 2022 edition, earned her place in the final four following a clinical performance. Fernandes raced to a 1-0 advantage as she won the first set 11-2. She then doubled her advantage with an 11-5 showing in the second stanza.
The result was then sealed following an 11-3 score in the third set. Fernandes will now oppose Samantha Teran in the final tomorrow.
