Police yesterday said ranks from its Traffic Headquarters carried out a motorcycle enforcement exercise at Turkeyen Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara and Meadow Bank public road, Georgetown yesterday resulting in 212 traffic cases being made out.

A release from the police said that 15 cases were for failure to wear safety helmets, 12 for breach of provisional license, two for failure to produce a driver’s license, and four for carrying a pillion rider without a safety helmet. Meanwhile 54 cases were made out against drivers who had a prohibited tint on their motor vehicles, 43 for having obscure ID marks on their vehicles, nine for failing to carry ID marks on the rear of vehicles, and four for failing to carry ID marks on the front of vehicles. In addition, the release said that 17 cases were made for breach of prescribed fitness, eight for driving without a license, 14 for having an uninsured motor vehicle, 19 for having an unlicensed motor vehicle, and 11 for having an uncertified motor vehicle.
