Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Bartica Zone
Following a four-year hiatus, the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Bartica edition will resume on Saturday evening at the Community Centre tarmac.
This was confirmed by a press release from the coordinating committee. According to the correspondence, the competition will serve as the final zonal round before the start of the national championship, which will be hosted at the Pouderoyen Tarmac on September 6th and which will feature the winners of the respective zones.
The coordinating team stated, “The excitement for the staging of the Bartica edition is palpable in the community. All the players, the communities, and their respective fans are eagerly anticipating the kickoff. After all, it has been several years since the tournament was staged in the region owing to the pandemic, so the excitement and anticipation are at an all-time high, which bodes well for the success of the competition. It’s almost as if the event is being played for the first time in the region given the hiatus.”
“The area is historically known for producing quality players at every level, and as such, this is no different. We expect a highly competitive affair, which has been a staple of not only the region but the entire season of the event. The expectation is for the best team to represent the region at the national competition, which is only weeks away”, the coordinating committee added.
On the opening night, the round of 16 section will be conducted, with the victors progressing to the quarterfinal round.
In the opening match. Genasyde engages Police at 19:00hrs, while Beachside 04 opposes Pluto at 19:30hrs, and Bay Boys tackles Agatash at 20:00hrs. Falmouth Stars will then battle Mighty Ruler at 20:30hrs in the fourth affair, while Avengers engage Spanish Men at 21:00hrs, and Jones Avenue lock horns with Stelling Crew at 21:00hrs.
The final two fixtures will pit Misdemeanor against Almanac Kings at 22:00hrs and Ruler Top Form against New Modern Crew at 22:30hrs. The second night will host the quarterfinal, semifinal, and eventual championship match.
