Housing ministry rebuts opposition claims regarding Mocha-Arcadia squatters

The Ministry of Housing and Water (MoHW) has issued a strong rebuttal to claims made by Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton and journalist Adam Harris regarding the land from which squatters were removed for the construction of the highway at Mocha-Arcadia (Cane View).

The ministry asserts that the land in question is designated solely for the highway project and will not be allocated for any other use. In a statement, the ministry emphasised that there are no plans to assign the land to any individual or organisation. Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, previously addressed this issue in an article published in the Stabroek News on August 13, stating, “The lands are not allocated to anyone… there are no structures on the land.”
