Work-study students exposed to job readiness programme

The Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency (CRMA) hosted a job readiness programme that facilitated some 90 work-study students at the Department of Education, Vreed-en-Hoop, Region Three.

According to a Ministry of Labour press release, the programme, which aims to empower young people with the requisite knowledge to prepare them for the world of work, is being led by CRMA Head Yolanda Grant, CRMA officer, Nalini Jagrup and Guidance and Counselling Officer within the Department of Education Kevin Reddy. It added that Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton visited with the students yesterday.

The students are currently attached to agencies such as the West Demerara Regional Hospital, the Department of Education, the Leonora Cottage Hospital, the Regional Democratic Council, the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute, the Neighborhood Democratic Council, the Government Technical Institute, the Leonora Technical Institute, the Vreed en Hoop Magistrate’s Court and the Leonora Police Station, the press release stated.
