The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) dispatched a five-member roster yesterday to compete at the Ronald Wilson Memorial Boxing Championship in Barbados.

This was disclosed by an official release from the GBA. According to the correspondence, the team departed on Wednesday and comprises a mixture of youth and experience. They are emerging talents Shaquain James, Shemroy Wintz, and Keyon Britton, as well as experienced campaigners in Desmond Amsterdam and Colin Lewis.

Meanwhile, the management team comprises Technical Director Terrence Poole and coach Steel Crawford. On the other hand, the officials who have accompanied the team and are set to feature at the event are referee/judge Jermaine Craig and Lawrence Assanah. They are expected to return home on Monday.

GBA President Steve Ninvalle said that the team comprises a marriage of experience and youth and that the association will view the event from different parameters given the nature of the squad.

He noted that the participation of the younger pugilists underscores a developmental nature, while the expectation and eventual performances of the experienced cadre of Lewis and Amsterdam will be analysed from a different perspective.
