A woman, whose adult son was charged last month over the publishing of obscene photographs and videos of his ex-girlfriend, made her appearance in court yesterday, charged with obstruction of justice.

Sixty-seven-year-old Ann Smith appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’  Court yesterday and was granted $50,000 bail with the caveat that she report twice a month to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters.

It was alleged that on July 8, 2024 at Lot 139 Silverballi Road, Meadow-brook she attempted to conceal Jeremy Smith from being arrested by police.

She pleaded not guilty and the prosecution did not object to bail being granted.

However a request was made for the magistrate to have her lodge her passport and report to the CID.

Attorney-at-law Eusi Anderson, who represented Ann Smith, told the court that his client seeks medical attention in the US and asked that her passport not be lodged. As a result she was ordered to report 2 times per month to the CID headquarters.

Ann Smith’s case was adjourned to September 6 2024.
