Prisoner shot after attempting to scale Camp St prison fence

Inmate  Bevon Griffith was  shot yesterday by Prison Officers after he attempted to scale the Camp Street prison fence.

A release from the Guyana Prison Service (GPS) said that Griffith ran out of his cell during the lockdown process and attempted to scale the fence.

Griffith was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), where he is receiving medical attention.

Director of Prisons, Nicklon Elliot praised the officers for their alertness. The situation at Camp Street prison has returned to normalcy, the release said.
